Board of Directors
Jason Lavin
Founder
For over 30 years, Jason has led designers, programmers, content creators and digital services, with a special focus on making websites work harder. As the founder and CEO of GoldenComm, he leads a wildly talented technical team in four continents, with headquarters in Newport Beach, CA.
Blessed with many coaches and mentors in his life, Jason developed a passion for coaching. He is the co-author of Coach’em Way Up: Five Lessons for Leading the John Wooden Way and is the president of The John R. Wooden Course LLC.
This passion has extended to California Rewind where he collaborates with a talented team to change the way high school sports are covered. Leading up to California Rewind, Jason was the president of the Newport Harbor Football Booster Club and president of the Newport Harbor Athletic Foundation. He also sits on the board of United Against Fentanyl.
Jason has a bachelor’s degree from University of Southern California.
Dr. Sean Boulton
Board Member
Dr. Boulton is the principal of Newport Harbor High School.
He was born in Hong Kong to a British father whose family spent over thirty-five years in Southeast Asia, and a Russian mother whose family spent over thirty-seven years in China. He moved to California at the age of 8.
Dr. Boulton earned a bachelor’s degree in History from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri and taught in the Springfield Unified School District for two years, where he was on the golf team. He later received his master’s degree in English Education (also from Drury) before returning to Southern California. In 1998 he started a career in education teaching English in the Los Angeles Unified School District at Charles Maclay Middle School in Pacoima before moving to teach English at Ensign Middle School in Newport Beach. While there, he earned his second master’s degree in Administration from Cal State Fullerton.
Dr. Boulton’s first administration position was at Estancia High School in 2003 where he served as an assistant principal. Then in 2006 he moved on to Laguna Hills High School in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District where he served as an assistant principal for two years. In 2008, he was subsequently named principal of Laguna Hills High, a position he held for the next 5 years and then returned back to Newport-Mesa Unified where he’s currently at Newport Harbor High School.
Dr. Boulton earned his Education Doctorate Degree from Grand Canyon University in 2017. He also teaches at the university level at Concordia University, Irvine.
Dr. Jacob Haley
Board Member
Dr. Haley is the principal of Corona del Mar High School.
Dr. Haley was previously the principal of Bainbridge High in Washington state, a school ranked sixth in the state according to the U.S. News and World Report. The Newport Mesa Unified School District recruited him based on his track record and reputation of being able to raise student achievement and close achievement gaps in addition to increasing participation in his school’s AP course offerings.
Prior to his work in Washington, Dr. Haley was a coach, teacher and administrator in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District at both Laguna Hills High School and El Toro High.
Dr. Howard Croom
Board Member
Dr. Croom is the Associate Vice President of People Strategy, Equity, and Culture at Portland Community College. He was previously at Oregon State University serving as an Associate Athletic Director.
Howard has a track record of being “first” in his career. He was one of the two first broadcasters and podcasters of Sunset Rewind when a speak easy football club was formed during the COVID pandemic. He spent two seasons with Sunset Rewind before relocating to Oregon to be the first Chief Diversity Officer for Oregon State Athletics.
As a former football player and in his current role, Dr. Croom understands the dynamics on campuses and the role sports and media plays in the community.
A tight end, the Long Beach, Calif., native lettered at Oregon State from 2006-09, Dr. Croom has a bachelor's degree from Oregon State in sociology, in addition to a master's degree in public policy. He also has a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California.
Tom Telesco
Board Member
Tom Telesco is the General Manager of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Tom’s NFL career started as a training camp intern for the Buffalo Bills in 1991. He then transitioned to the Carolina Panthers as a scouting assistant in 1995, and later joined the Indianapolis Colts in 1998, where he spent 15 years in various scouting and player personnel positions.
Then in 2013, Tom became the youngest general manager in the Chargers’ (San Diego then Los Angeles) history and led that franchise for over 11 years.
Telesco, who was raised in Hamburg, New York, has a passion for high school education and sports. He played at St. Francis High School and then was a wide receiver John Carroll University.
